Welcome to Europe Direct Cumbria

Welcome to Europe Direct Cumbria

In 2005 European Commission started creating a new network of local information centres in all member states called EUROPE DIRECT. As a result of a competition, we have been granted the status of Europe Direct Relay in North West England. The main objective of the network is to provide comprehensive information, advice, assistance and answers to questions on European Union’s legislation, policies, programmes and funding opportunities. It also gives the European citizens an opportunity to provide feedback for the institutions in the form of questions, opinions and suggestions. As part of that network, Cumbria Europe Direct will provide a local service that will:

  • Establish the service in Cumbria with appropriate staffing in place
Develop a library of information materials.
  • Establish links with the county council’s library service and mechanisms for the dissemination of information.
  • Identify and maximise publicity opportunities to promote the establishment of the service in Cumbria.
  • Instigate a regular series of newsletters and establish a contact/mailing list for Europe Direct information.
  • Establish links with key organisations that will work with the Europe Direct Centre or will benefit from its services.
